Capitol Sailboat Club originally started on the Potomac River, just outside of Washington, DC. After a few seasons testing out various locations on the Potomac and on the Chesapeake Bay, we found our members most enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake. Six years ago we consolidated all of our vessels into one location: Herrington Harbour Marina. It is easily accessible from DC and Northern, VA as well as central and southern Maryland. We also believe it is the most beautiful marina on the Bay!

Capitol Sailboat club is a division of Planet Hope Land and Sea, a non-profit youth oriented sailing adventure organization. While serving young people from all walks of life, Planet Hope spend a good portion of the season offering special sailing adventures to under served young people. Learn more about Planet Hope at:

Once the non-profit established the fleet, we needed an avenue for our sailing instructors and volunteers to check out boats when they were teaching courses. We also realized that in between programs and courses, our boats were not being used. in 2002, Captain Jack Feeney, owner of The Sailboat Club in Jacksonville, FL introduced us to the Sailboat Club concept and helped us set up our own club.

Now members can join the organization, enjoy time on the sailboats and membership fees help support our youth sailing programs and help us to maintain our fleet. Members are not required to volunteer but there are great opportunities to help with our programs and share your love of sailing.

Because Capitol Sailboat Club is a non-profit, we are able to offer memberships at very reasonable rates.
